Why Behavioural Insights Belong in Your Transformation Toolkit
Over recent weeks, we’ve shared content on how behavioural insights can be an integral lens to view new and existing problems through.
Some key highlights have included:
How understanding behavioural barriers, like capability, motivation and opportunity when trying to achieve business ambitions or overcome challenges is key.
Like new technology, or efficient new process’s, change management and behavioural insights achieve the best success when considered as part of a connected system.
Case studies that show how change management and behavioural insights can accelerate growth, through our work with clients in both the private and public sector.
You’ve met some of the SME’s behind Change Management at Enfuse Group!
We hope you agree – behavioural insights are a great addition to your toolbox.
So, how do you get started?
Our expert Louisa shares her experience and shares some advice on getting started:
I’ve always been really interested in understanding why people behave the way they do. From reading nudge theory, to going back to complete a master’s in psychology to studying Behavioural Insights with the BIT (Behavioural Insight Team) and Warwick Business School.
I then had the opportunity to take my learnings and apply them to changing the behaviours of teams during a transformation project. Since then, I’ve upskilled people across Enfuse Group to do the same. It’s a great way to help our clients.
What’s one of the most important things you have learned?
As a Change Lead, it’s so important to understand the contexts and environments people are working within first. Don’t assume that what’s worked for one client before, will apply again. Avoid applying a blanket approach! One of the most important thing’s I’ve learned is to always put yourself in the shoes of your client, to understand perspective’s from across the business before beginning any engagement.
I took this quite literally on a recent trip to Shipping Ports in the Middle East with Inchcape Shipping Services – find me pictured in the (safety) shoes of my client’s!

What advice would I give to anyone who wants to get started?
Start small. One framework that I loved and has since helped me is GO EAST. There’s lots we can learn from Behavioural Insights that will start having immediate impact. Pick an existing challenge (that you can clearly define and measure), brainstorm the behaviour that you need people to adopt and then GO EAST.
EAST worked perfectly for me when encouraging engagement with digital training at a Global Shipping Services Business, as we explored in one of our case studies here.
